One of the movie characters I have come to like very much is that of Thiruchelvan from the movie Kannathil Muthamittaal. Mani Ratnam has excellently characterized the key character in the movie — using a combination of forward thinking, love for Tamil and literature, atypical ways of approaching the society and lastly, a very Bharathi-an style of approaching romance.

I reproduce this song written by Vairamuthu, capturing both the spontaneity and depth of the situation where Thiruchelvan proposes to Indira.
